things I saw today that make me happy:
(i.e. an unusually warm February day in the Midwest)
• kids exploring down by a stream
• a cute old man smiling in his pickup truck with a Christmas wreath still on the grill
• a couple in a car coming toward me with both of their hands out the windows catching the wind
• sunlight filtering through a row of pines with their shadows stretching across the road in front of me
thoughts on saturday:
the unexpectedly pleasant day the wind’s flow on your cheek sunlight filtering through trees thoughts fluttering from your mind
the day holds all the road brings the old things fall away
windows down music up hand out heart open

Either way, no matter how hard you try to put everything neatly into shape, the context wanders this way and that, until finally the context isn’t even there anymore. You’re left with...

The End of Outside
Should I say I’m sorry
For what I’m going to say?
I guess it’s way beyond me
To sleep with yesterday
I want to see my future
I want to know my past
The everlasting present
Is that so much to ask?
Does it make you wonder what’s at the end of outside?
They say there’s other vision, deeper than the light
Maybe they’re just voices, coming from my mind
A...
